Why should people see a doctor after an auto accident?
Auto accidents can be detrimental to health and well being of the body. I have seen countless patients that did not get evaluated after an automobile accident by a medical professional and suffered serious injuries that didn’t present themselves until months after the accident. It is important just to get an exam to see if you might have any potential injuries to the body.
When should someone see a chiropractor versus a medical doctor?
Chiropractors are primary care physicians in the state of Florida and can order any diagnostic tests needed to evaluate the body after a car accident. North Shore Chiropractic works with local St. Petersburg doctors in diagnosing and treating conditions. We always try to relieve the dysfunction and pain without the use of surgeries or medications as the first line of defense to healing the body.
What if someone does not feel back pain right away, is it really necessary to go get checked out by a doctor?
Yes. I have seen patients walk through the door with disc herniations, whiplash, ligament instability and much more from a minor auto accident. It is important just to get your body examined by a chiropractor or a medical doctor. You only have 14 days to get in for an initial evaluation from your Chiropractor or M.D. from the date of your auto accident. After the 14 days, the insurance company might deny the claims if one visit is not made to any medical providers within the 14 days after the car accident.
What is whiplash anyway?
Whiplash is a neck injury that can occur when the head suddenly moves backward then forward. Neck sprains are associated with a whiplash injury. It is important to get an exam if you have a whiplash injury. The symptoms of Whiplash include: pain, decreased range of motion, tightness of neck, headaches and any pain with movement.
How much does someone expect to pay out of pocket for an auto accident injury or is it covered by insurance?
In most car accident cases, the medical bills are paid by the insurance company. Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is required on your auto insurance policy in the state of Florida so everyone has it. We are happy to do a complimentary benefits check to let you know the limits on your policy and your options available.
